Decided to just pop by since I was around the area running some errands. Sometimes I wonder why all these exhibitions don't get mad crowds rushing and long queues outside like Andy Warhol at the Art Science Museum and the Musee D'orsay exhibition at the National Museum. I do see people on social networking sites whining and complaining about Asian and local artists not getting enough exposure and about Singaporeans not being able to appreciate art. I personally do not think so, judging by the size of the crowds at Art Science Museum and foreign exhibitions held at our various museums, I could tell that Singaporeans DO appreciate art (and most of them pay for admission fees *shrugs*).
However, I was really glad to be slightly irritated with visitors at the usually quiet SAM. It shows that even on a weekday afternoon, the exhibition managed to draw the attention of people.
Panorama is one of the best exhibitions I've been to so far this year. It features artists from around Asia. Very talented and passionate artists. My favourite has to be the installation "Cloud Nine" by Thai artist, Sakarin Krue-On. What attracted my attention was the concept of social class the artist portrayed together with the striking colours used, and of course, on a shallow note, the use of animals in art always get most of my attention.
