Art + Fashion = ?

I've been wanting to start writing for the longest time but I am definitely not good with words. Therefore, here are some photos and a video to state what I have been meaning to say.

Something I found on Youtube, really relate to a quote by one of the artists, Shannon Stokes, "With fashion shoots, it's about how big the set is, if you could get the right model or if you could get the right lighting but with art, you can control every aspect of it."

How do you feel about Art & Fashion collaboration? To me, art and fashion co-exist since the beginning of time. Without art, there will be no fashion, without fashion, art will not be appreciated. They are interdependent. Well, that's just my opinion, if you are a complete fine art (renaissance period type of person) geek, you'd probably disagree with me but I really don't care.

One of my favourite art & fashion collabs must be Elsa Schiaparelli and Salvador Dali. Anyone who knows me would know that I am quite a huge fan of the genius, Dali. Schiaparelli has a very creative mind as she was able to introduce surrealism into the fashion world.

Oh yes, a little on Elsa Schiaparelli. She was an Italian designer and a famous rival of our beloved Coco Chanel (I'm a BIG fan of this woman). They were fiercely rivalling in the fashion world during their time (well, you know, women). Dali was rumoured to have had an affair with Coco Chanel and he's painted a few works at her place in Roquebrune. One of the famous ones is "The Enigma of Hitler".

With fashion, comes art and with art, comes fashion. Dali was inspired by Chanel and Schiaparelli had a collaboration with Dali. All three were brilliant artist and fashion designers. So who says that art should only be confined to be dead and boring?

More recent collaborations include Stella McCartney + Jeff Koons and Takashi Murakami + Louis Vuitton.

You might have an opinion of the fashion world being evil and artists are being exploited of their talents to do the dirty work of fashion designers because they lack ideas. Well, that's a thought but this is what the masses want - brilliant collaboration of art and fashion. Me? I'm loving it.
